The warm, personal approach of Beltox Consultancy is based on a solid foundation of knowledge and experience, of which you can find some examples here.

RECENT YEARS

Since its 2004 start, Beltox Consultancy has mainly been involved in advice and information about chemicals.

Most of those years I have been the Editor Medical Toxicological Safety of the Chemiekaarten project (a publication of Dutch chemical safety cards).

Furthermore I am, both as a compiler and as a scientific editor, involved in the ICSC project (International Chemical Safety Cards).

Beltox Consultancy has provided services for e.g.:

YEARS BC (BEFORE CONSULTANCY) – GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

The experiences I gained as an employee have unmistakenly contributed to the success of this independent enterprise. These are the most recent ones:

VWA – Keuringsdienst van Waren

Before I founded Beltox Consultancy I worked in the service of the Department of Agriculture, Nature and Food safety, holding the ‘official’ job title of ‘Adjunct Inspecteur’ (Assistant Inspector) at the ‘Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit’ (Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority).
But, to be frank: “Senior Signaling officer Stimulating substances” (Senior Signaleringsmedewerker Genotmiddelen) does sound much better, doesn’t it?

My work fields included, a.o.: the ‘Drank- en Horecawet’ (Alcohol Law), the ‘Tabakswet’ (Tobacco Law), the ‘Absintwet’ (Absinth Law) and the ‘Wet Bijzondere Eet- en Drinkwaren [smartshopproducten en kruiden]’ (Law Special Food products and Beverages [smart shop products and herbs])’ .

RIVM – National Poison Information Center

My time at the NVIC (National Poison Information Center, back then part of the RIVM) is unforgettable. Teachers like Irma de Vries and Jan Meulenbelt have had a large part in the development of my toxicological and general knowledge.
A small selection of activities:

• herbal drugs and ‘smart drugs’
• chlorine gas incidents in Dutch swimming pools
• national study of XTC poisonings

EDUCATIONS AND COURSES – PAPERWORK

Some highlights:

• study Chemistry (State University Groningen, RuG), with a switch to
• study Pharmacy (also RuG) with a specialization in Toxicology en Bioanalysis; completed with a diploma Doctoral Exam and corresponding title of doctorandus (abbreviated drs, similar to sub-PhD / Master of Science)
• certificate of the Advance HAZMAT Life Support (AHLS)
• member of the Dutch Society of Toxicology (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Toxicologie, NvT)
• member of the European Association of Poison Control Centres and Clinical Toxicology (EAPCCT)
• Radiation safety expert, level 4A (Stralingsveiligheidsdeskundige, niveau 4A)
